Changes to the Community Order and the Offender Rehabilitation Act

From February 1, 2015 all people in prison who are serving sentences of less than 12 months will be supervised in the community by TV-CRC for 12 months on their release from custody. The Offender Rehabilitation Act has been amended to include this change and it is the first time this cohort of offenders will come under our direct supervision.

A second change from February 1, 2015 is the abolition of both the Supervision Requirement and the Specified Activity Requirement and the introduction of the new Rehabilitation Activity Requirement. This change gives TV-CRC more flexibility and innovation in the way we can work with people and means we can better tailor specific  options to tackle the reasons behind a person’s offending.
